What breaks on most charity websites

Not the obvious things. The ones that quietly stop people getting help.

People who need your services cannot find the right one

Your services page covers everything your charity offers. But a parent in crisis or a referral worker on a deadline is not reading every line. They scan, miss it, and leave.

The donation page loses people before they give

Most charities lose donors between clicking "donate" and completing the form. Usually it is a form that asks too much, loads too slowly, or does not work on a phone.

The site was not built with vulnerable visitors in mind

No quick-exit button. A contact form asking for a phone number when a phone call is not safe. Language options missing entirely. These are not edge cases in the charity sector.

A large part of your audience cannot use the site at all

Around one in four UK adults has a disability that affects how they use the web. If English is not their first language, the problem compounds. Most charity websites have not been checked against either.

Why charities choose us

Three things that matter when you're spending restricted funds on a website. Built to satisfy trustees, funders and the people you serve, without creating a content monster your team cannot maintain.

We work with what you have

Most charities have more usable content than they realise. We take your existing materials — annual reports, leaflets, old site copy — and restructure them for the web. No content brief to fill in.

Fixed price, no surprises

You know exactly what you're paying before we start. No hourly billing, no scope creep, no awkward invoices. The price we quote is the price you pay.

We're still here after launch

Every project includes a post-launch warranty, a training session, and a clear handover. Complete and Priority packages include care plan months so nothing goes stale. We don't build and disappear.

How much Gift Aid is your charity missing? Most charities claim less than 60% of the Gift Aid they're entitled to. Find out your gap in under 60 seconds — free.

Charity Digital Pressure Test

We review your existing website against seven areas that directly affect whether people find support, donate, and trust your organisation. You get a written report with a prioritised action list: what to fix first, what can wait, and what a full build would solve. Five working days from kick-off.

  • Accessibility
  • Usability
  • Service findability
  • Donation friction
  • Safeguarding UX (can vulnerable visitors exit safely and discreetly?)
  • Multilingual gaps (who might be missing your site entirely?)
  • SEO and IA (are your pages structured so Google and visitors find the right service?)

"Our old site was dense, hard to navigate, and a first-time visitor had no way to quickly understand what we did or what to do next. Haris at Goodside rebuilt it with a clear understanding of our audience. Emergency help is visible without scrolling, the quick-exit button protects vulnerable visitors, and the work we do is finally front and centre. We have a site we're genuinely proud of."

Common questions

Very little. Your logo, some photos if you have them, and access to any existing materials (annual reports, leaflets, etc.). We'll handle the rest. That's the whole point.

Yes. Redesigns and rebuilds are a significant part of our work. If your current site no longer reflects what your charity does, looks outdated, or is difficult for your team to update, we can rebuild it properly. We use your existing content as the starting point, keep what works, and improve what does not. The process and pricing are the same as a new build.

Yes. We build on WordPress with a simple editor. If your team can use Microsoft Word, they can update the website. We include a training session to make sure everyone feels confident.

50% to start the project, 50% on launch day. If you'd prefer to pay in full upfront, we offer a discount on all packages.

Foundation includes a 30-day warranty after launch. Complete and Priority clients get care plan months included. After that, most clients move onto our Care plan (from £99/month) which covers WordPress updates, security monitoring, backups, and small content changes.

No. If you already have hosting, we work with it. If you are starting from scratch or your current host is slow or unreliable, we can recommend one that suits your size and budget. Either way, we make sure SSL is set up, backups are configured, and the site works properly from day one.

Absolutely. We build donation pages that keep visitors on your site, with options for one-off gifts, monthly giving, and Gift Aid. No sending people off to confusing third-party pages.

Several things are included in every build: GA4 analytics, stock image sourcing, and basic SEO setup. For online donations, we integrate with your chosen platform and advise on the right fit for your size and budget — the right tool for a charity with 200 donors looks different to one with 5,000. If you need copywriting, we can write or rewrite pages at our standard hourly rate. Some clients bring content, others prefer us to write it. CRM and email list setup is available as an add-on. What we do not offer: social media management or photography, though we can point you to people who do both well.

Wix and a budget freelancer will both build you something. We build something that works for your trustees, your funders, and the people you serve. The price reflects the strategy, the content support, the charity-sector knowledge, and the relationship that continues after launch. If the only priority is cheapest, we're probably not the right fit. If the priority is a website that earns trust and does its job, let's talk.
